Job summary

Normet is a global technology company serving mining, tunnelling and construction. We are looking for a Maintenance Design Engineer to modify and design parts and sub-assemblies in 3D and to collaborate with Production, Quality, Documentation and other engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

You will produce drawings, parts lists and instructions, perform strength calculations, and seek cost-efficient manufacturing solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• At least 2 years’ engineering experience, preferably in 3D design of mechanical structures
• Recent graduates with relevant trainee experience are welcome
• Ability to work independently according to agreed procedures and good interaction with internal teams and suppliers
• Solution-oriented, hands-on attitude; enjoy working close to production and seeing designs built
• Fluent Finnish and good English skills

Responsibilities

• Solve acute issues hands-on with Production and Quality when needed

• Produce/update structural drawings, work instructions and parts lists
• Perform strength calculations and produce exploded views for documentation

• Design equipment installations in Platform team projects
• Deliver improvements on schedule with cross-functional collaboration

In this role you will modify and design parts and sub-assemblies of our machines in 3D, solve real-life challenges together with production, design equipment installations in our platform team projects and see your designs turn into real machines. You will collaborate daily with Production, Quality, Documentation and our Mechanical, Hydraulic, Automation and Electrical engineering teams, reporting to the Team Lead, Item Data Management & Engineering Process Development. The role is based in Iisalmi, Finland, with the possibility of hybrid work. The work includes occasional evening shifts in production support.Main responsibilities and tasks:Solving acute issues hands-on together with Production and Quality when needed.Bringing improvements to life by modifying and designing parts and sub-assemblies of Normet equipment in 3D using Autodesk Inventor.Producing and updating structural drawings, work instructions and parts lists and owning their quality.Making or commissioning the necessary strength calculations and producing exploded views and illustrations for equipment documentation.Finding smart solutions that meet requirements and enable cost-efficient manufacturing – agreeing on them with other designers, your manager, Sourcing and Production, and delivering them on schedule.Gathering component information from the PLM system, Sourcing and suppliers, and turning approved internal and external feedback into improved drawings and parts lists.Designing equipment installations in Platform team projects, where you get to influence how our machines are built.To succeed in this position, we require:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (University of Applied Sciences or University) in mechanical engineering or a comparable field, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained otherwise.Working experience of at least 2 years in the engineering field, preferably in 3D design of mechanical structures or another relevant area. Recent graduates with relevant trainee experience are also warmly welcome to apply.Ability to work independently according to agreed procedures, and good interaction skills with internal teams as well as component suppliers, equipment manufacturers and subcontractors.A solution-oriented, hands-on attitude.
