Job summary

University of Turku invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on multiphysics modelling of quench protection in high-temperature superconductors. You will lead FEM simulations, validate models with experimental data, and collaborate with international partners including Quanscient Oy.

The role emphasizes independent research, publication, and contributing to prototype validation within an ambitious SmartHiTS project environment.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree must be completed by the end of the application period.
  • Strong knowledge of finite-element methods and multiphysics simulation.
  • Solid knowledge of superconductivity and superconducting materials.
  • Ability to develop, validate, troubleshoot, and critically assess computational models independently.
  • Strong analytical and scientific writing skills; fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FEM and multiphysics simulation activities for quench protection.
  • Parameterize and validate models with experimental data from project work packages.
  • Identify conductor and wire architectures to prevent quenches or mitigate effects.
  • Analyze results, quantify uncertainty, and translate findings to testable design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with experimentalists and prototype collaborators throughout development and validation.
  • Serve as main scientific contact with Quanscient; publish and present results.
