Job summary

Hyperion Robotics is seeking a Lead Automation Engineer to join our Espoo-based team. You will design, build, and commission electrical and automation systems for our 3D concrete printing solutions, with hands-on work and growth toward a future Team Lead role.

You will own architecture, hardware selection, PLC programming, documentation, testing, and commissioning, collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team across Europe.

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive experience in industrial automation in machinery or R&D environments.
• Hands-on design of electrical schematics and control system layouts.
• Experience with Beckhoff hardware and TwinCAT; broader hardware/software architecture.
• Ability to create structured technical documentation for electrical and automation scope.
• Willingness for hands-on engineering tasks: testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, wiring support.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain progress and risks.
• Experience owning the technical scope of a system and leading as a technical owner.
• Experience coaching less senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Build and own electrical and automation systems for our 3D printing solutions in Finland and Europe.
• Create scalable hardware and software architectures for industrial systems.
• Design electrical topology, schematics, and control layouts for new machines.
• Program PLCs using IEC61131 languages, especially Structured Text; FCs where relevant.
• Support HMI development and safety-related automation functions.
• Maintain clear technical documentation: schematics, cabinet layouts, testing protocols.
