Job summary

Georg Fischer in Helsinki seeks an experienced Head of Portfolio Governance & PMO to build and lead GF IT’s global portfolio management and project governance.

You will report to the CIO, lead a globally distributed team, and align IT strategy with investments, delivery, and business value through transparent governance and data-driven decision making.

The role offers a hybrid work model in Ilmala, Helsinki, with opportunities to shape a modern PMO across multiple European locations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in portfolio, programme and project management in a complex international industrial organisation.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience leading globally distributed project teams.
• Proven track record in establishing or developing a PMO function in evolving maturity environments.
• Strong business and financial acumen to translate strategy into investment priorities.
• Experience in post-M&A IT organisations is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop GF IT’s portfolio governance framework, development portfolio and global PMO.
• Prepare portfolio and investment decisions for the CIO and governance bodies with business cases and capacity.
• Translate IT initiatives into an integrated multi-year portfolio roadmap and oversee budgets and delivery.
• Lead and develop the global IT Project Manager pool and establish lean governance and delivery standards.
• Own PMO governance for ServiceNow SPM as a data-driven discipline.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Portfolio Governance & PMO to establish and lead GF IT’s global portfolio management and project governance capability. In this role, you will report directly to the CIO. The role will be based in Helsinki, Finland.

This is an opportunity to build and shape a modern Portfolio and Project Management function that connects IT strategy, investment decisions and delivery. The role will establish transparent portfolio governance, strengthen project execution and develop a high-performing global project management capability.

As Head of Portfolio Governance & PMO, you will lead a globally distributed team of IT project professionals and orchestrate portfolio prioritisation, capacity, investment transparency and delivery performance. Your mission is to turn business and IT demands into one transparent, prioritised portfolio that enables fact-based decisions and measurable business value.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Own and continuously develop GF IT’s portfolio governance framework, development portfolio and global Project Portfolio Management organisation.
• Prepare portfolio and investment decisions for the CIO and relevant governance bodies based on transparent business cases, value, risk, dependencies and available capacity.
• Translate IT-related strategic initiatives into an integrated multi-year portfolio roadmap and oversee portfolio budgets, delivery performance, resource allocation and value realisation with Finance and business stakeholders.
• Lead, coach and develop the global IT Project Manager pool and establish lean governance, decision gates and delivery standards fit for different initiative types and methods.
• Own the business processes, governance standards and roadmap for ServiceNow SPM, developing the PMO as a purely AI-enabled, data-driven discipline rather than a reporting function.

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in portfolio, programme and project management within a complex international industrial organisation.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience leading internationally distributed project teams and building professional capabilities.
• Proven track record in establishing or substantially developing a portfolio or PMO function in an evolving maturity environment.
• Strong command of portfolio governance and sequential, agile and hybrid delivery practices, applied pragmatically and with minimal viable governance.
• Strong business and financial acumen, able to translate strategy into investment priorities, challenge proposals constructively and advise senior governance bodies.
• Experience in post-M&A IT organisations, portfolio management platforms and the Business Technology Standard is an advantage.

The role will be based in Helsinki, Finland. Other European locations may also be considered.
