Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Heavy Industrial Gas Turbines to join our Turbo Services team. The role involves technical leadership during maintenance events, troubleshooting and optimization of turbine-related systems across customer facilities, with expectations of travel within Europe.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and demonstrate strong English communication skills (German a plus).

Qualifications

• Holistic knowledge of Gas Turbines and main auxiliary systems.
• Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance planning.
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently with sound technical decisions.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, specs, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong customer-facing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Good English and, if possible, German.
• Willingness to travel for onsite support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical support resource for Field Service Engineers, guiding maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, overhauls and commissioning.
• Provide technical expertise for Gas Turbine maintenance during on-site events and off-site direction.
• Evaluate inspection findings and define repair methods, scopes, and maintenance strategies including risk assessments.
• Review and approve service reports, engineering drawings and technical documentation for Sulzer quality standards.
• Guide customers and site teams by resolving technical issues and identifying root causes with practical solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement of field service processes, maintenance practices and engineering documentation.
