Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking an experienced engineer to act as an internal technical resource for structural integrity, failure analysis, and claims support. You will conduct field investigations, review engineering reports, and guide repair feasibility and compliance with building codes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with claims, risk management, and underwriting teams within a hybrid work model. The ideal candidate has a civil/structural engineering background, P.Eng designation, and 8+ years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in civil/structural engineering and P.Eng designation.
• 8+ years of experience in failure and damage analysis of structures and building envelopes.
• Strong understanding of structural design principles, load analysis and material properties.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical conclusions to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform building and structural failure investigations for commercial and residential buildings.
• Support claims professionals with losses, origin and cause determinations.
• Analyze failures in building systems and assess remediation needs.
• Determine extent of damage and recommend repair versus replacement.
• Review and prepare engineering reports and documentation for claims and litigation.
• Conduct field investigations, collect evidence, and ensure safety and compliance.
