Job summary

AFRY in Finland is seeking a Design Engineer or Lead Engineer to join the Advanced Automation team in the energy, industry and digitalization sectors. You will work on process control projects, developing and delivering sustainable solutions with a focus on Balance+ control philosophy.

The role offers hybrid work from Vantaa or Tampere, development opportunities, and collaboration with mixed senior and junior experts.

Qualifications

• Master or Bachelor of Science technology degree.
• Experience with DCS programming, configuration, commissioning, or troubleshooting.
• Application engineering experience from a major DCS system is a benefit.
• Some experience in energy and/or process industry with automation understanding.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver process control solutions for energy and process industries.

Advanced Automation team members are located mainly at our Vantaa and Tampere offices. The team consists of good combination of senior and younger talents. We provide world leading process control technology solutions, products, project management and services for the energy and process industry. Continuous improvement of our solutions and services is in a key role in our business. We work globally in interesting locations, which makes our business and projects exciting.

Your preferable location is either Vantaa or Tampere. AFRY supports hybrid working model.

We are looking for a person who is interested in industrial automation and advanced process control and is eager to develop their skills in the field. You may already have some experience from automation projects, studies, or related roles, and you are excited to learn a new approach to controlling power and heat production, district heating systems, and other industrial processes using AFRY’s Balance+ control philosophy.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you have:

• Master or Bachelor of Science technology degree.
• Experience with DCS programming, configuration, commissioning, or troubleshooting.
• Application engineering experience from a major DCS system is a benefit.
• Some experience in working in the energy and/or process industry, with a strong understanding of automation and control systems.
• Understanding of power boilers, power and heat production, and industrial processes, even though your main competence is in automation.
• Fluency in Finnish and English.

Considered a benefit

• Experience with new technologies in energy or industrial process control and data management such as APC and artificial intelligence.
• Experience from advanced automation, process control or application engineering in pulp mill recovery processes and applications is considered a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
