Job summary

Smartvatten is looking for a Data Engineer to join our team in Kokkola or Pori. You will build and maintain our cloud data platform, ingest data from varied sources into BigQuery, model it into reliable datasets, and serve it to Qlik and other consumers.

You will work with AI-enabled development, practice data quality, and collaborate with the technology team to deliver KPI-focused insights for sustainability and water conservation initiatives.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng completed or ongoing in Computer Science, Data/Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent skills.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Basic programming skills, preferably Python.
• Eagerness to learn cloud data technologies, attention to detail, and good English communication.
• Readiness to work with AI tools and apply them where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Building data pipelines: ingest data from source systems into the BigQuery data warehouse.
• Data modeling & transformation: develop SQL transformations following a medallion-like architecture.
• Reporting datasets: build serve-layer tables/views for dashboards and reporting.
• Data quality & documentation: write tests, validate results, and document datasets and KPI definitions.
• Collaboration: work with tech teams and stakeholders to turn reporting needs into data solutions.
• AI in practice: use AI-assisted development and build datasets for AI/analytics use cases.
