Johnson Controls in the Helsinki metropolitan area seeks a BMS Engineer to lead design review, commissioning and handover on data centre projects, coordinating with M&E contractors and end users. You will develop software and hardware integration, perform FAT and site commissioning, verify safety, and deliver complete system documentation, with strong English communication and onsite work.

Location: Helsinki Metropolitan Area (Site-Based)
As a BMS Engineer, you will play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from design review to commissioning and handover: Review project specifications and designs, identifying commissioning and software-related risks together with the Project Manager. Validate design assumptions and contribute to detailed scope of work definitions and cost estimates in collaboration with Operations. Support proposal preparation and customer-facing documentation. Execute software development and commissioning activities according to project requirements, managing deviations where required. Coordinate closely with M&E contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and end users. Provide clear progress reporting, including weekly status updates and escalation of delays or risks. Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), integrated system testing, and site commissioning, ensuring all documentation is complete and approved. Compile and deliver system handover documentation, including O&M manuals. Verify installation quality, including review and approval of subcontractor electrical test documentation prior to commissioning. Maintain accurate records of commissioning progress and system performance. Develop, test, load, and commission BMS software and network-level controllers. Coordinate and create relevant drawings, equipment schedules, and technical submissions. Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot issues across multiple disciplines. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with applicable electrical safety regulations, project standards, and site-specific Health & Safety requirements. Promote a positive, solution-oriented mindset that enhances customer satisfaction while supporting contractual objectives.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline, or a relevant technical apprenticeship combined with 5+ years of BMS or control systems commissioning experience. Strong HVAC and BMS commissioning experience, including AHUs, terminal units, actuators, and controllers. Experience in fault finding and troubleshooting electrical starters and control circuits. Practical experience commissioning Variable Speed Drives (VSDs). Familiarity with industry-standard BMS communication protocols. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Valid Health & Safety certification or equivalent industry-recognized training. Willingness to work onsite at data centre construction projects across the Helsinki metropolitan area. Preferred Previous data centre BMS commissioning experience. Experience with one or more of the following platforms: Johnson Controls Metasys EasyIO Tridium Niagara Trend Siemens Schneider Electric. Experience contributing to large-scale or regulated projects, such as data centres, healthcare facilities, pharmaceutical sites, or government infrastructure. Ability to create and update graphics and assist with workstation and network configuration (training can be provided). Valid European driving licence. Fluency in English; Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.
