Job summary

Beneq is seeking a Machine Automation Engineer to design and maintain automation software for ALD equipment, from development to commissioning at customer sites worldwide.

You will work on automated systems, improve HMI interfaces, and collaborate with stakeholders while ensuring quality and documentation. The role is primarily office-based in Espoo with up to 40% remote work and travel up to 60 days per year.

Qualifications

• Engineering background with 4+ years of experience in automation engineering.
• Experience with automation instrumentation and electrical drawings.
• Experience with IEC 61131-3 structured text in PLC environments.
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MSSQL).
• Familiarity with UML and modelling methods.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of HTML5 and JS-based HMI design tools.
• Strong software development fundamentals and QA principles.
• Excellent English communication.
• Willingness to travel 50–60 days per year to customer sites worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automation software for Beneq ALD equipment.
• Develop and maintain automation systems from coding to commissioning at customer sites.
• Design and improve automation software and HMI interfaces.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specs.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for software systems.
• Conduct testing including simulation testing in development lab.
• Commission equipment at customer premises.
• Support field-based colleagues with questions.
