Job summary

Nordea seeks an experienced Application Reliability Lead to own the reliability and lifecycle of payment applications across Nordic regions. You will collaborate with development, operations, and architecture teams to ensure secure, stable, and compliant services.

The role emphasizes AI-assisted operations, automation, and AI-driven insights to improve customer outcomes and reduce manual support. Hybrid workplace in Helsinki or Poland could be expected.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining business-critical applications or services in banking/payments.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL and service management disciplines.
• Experience with incident, problem, change and risk management.
• Solid software engineering background and ability to engage with developers/architects.
• Experience operating and supporting distributed business-critical systems.
• Experience driving operational stability and reliability initiatives.
• Understanding transitioning from product development into operations.
• Experience in service restoration or drills.
• Understanding monitoring, observability and production support practices.
• Experience working with vendors and external partners.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end accountability for operational health and reliability of payment apps.
• Drive service resilience and availability through proactive management.
• Partner with development teams to improve observability and operability.
• Define and monitor service health indicators and SLIs/SLOs.
• Lead incident and problem management with root-cause elimination.
• Oversee application lifecycle, upgrades and technical debt reduction.
• Manage budgets, vendor contracts and operational costs.
• Ensure security, architecture and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate external vendors and internal specialists.
• Act as escalation point during major incidents.
• Identify opportunities to automate operational tasks.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to improve performance and decisions.
• Shape future operating model for AI-enabled service ownership.
