Job summary

Intergrid in Helsinki is seeking a full-time AI Engineer to join our fast-growing team. You will report to the CTO and collaborate with engineering, operations and commercial teams to build auditable AI-based systems that scale across the company.

As our first cross-functional AI Engineer, you will shape how we run, with potential growth toward senior expert roles or product–software development alignment. The role emphasizes ownership, practical problem solving, and clear English communication

About the role

We're hiring a full-time AI Engineer to join our fast-growing team in Helsinki.

We already serve 100+ industrial sites today, and AI is an everyday part of how we work. However, to allow maximal scalability, we want to take it to the next level. This requires going beyond individual productivity tools and agents towards robust, auditable AI-based systems that raise efficiency and quality across the whole company.

As our first cross-functional AI Engineer, you'll report to our CTO, work with every team in engineering, operations and commercial, and fundamentally shape how we run as a company. Over time, the role can grow towards a senior expert role or closer to our product and software development team.

Key responsibilities

• Help teams get most of AI: Support teams in mapping and prioritizing areas where automation and AI can deliver most impact.
• Ship robust AI workflows that run without you: Create software that automates our most critical processes across operations, engineering, and commercial.
• Raise company-wide quality of AI: Contribute to best practices on how to utilize AI effectively and safely, while keeping the team up to date on AI development that matters most to us.
• Measure the impact: Measure real outcomes, such as time saved, fewer errors and how we scale customer sites per person, not just adoption.

• AI-native builder: You have shipped automated AI-based workflows and systems that people and decisions depend on.
• Pragmatic problem solver: You quickly understand how a system works, spot where AI can make the biggest difference, and propose solutions that work in practice.
• High-agency: You take ownership, work independently, and ship and iterate fast.
• Technically capable: You're comfortable with Python, SQL, data analysis, and working with APIs and integrations.
• Curious learner: You follow AI developments closely and keep improving both yourself and the way we work.
• Clear communicator: You work well with people from different backgrounds, and you communicate clearly in English.

First discussion (45 min)

Get to know each other, learn about your motivation and previous experience. Discussion about the role and your potential fit with Intergrid, including our mission, vision, and ways of working. You are more than welcome to visit our office.

Case interview (90 min)

Show off your skills in a hands-on case at our office, where you'll build an autonomous AI workflow and walk us through your reasoning. We'll also use this session to explore your growth potential and get to know you beyond your CV: what drives you and what experiences have shaped you.

Founder interview (60 min)

Meet our founders and dive into our strategy, culture, and future plans. Ask all your toughest questions.

'Work with us' afternoon (1/2 day)

We invite you to work with Intergrid team for a half day to ensure our ways of working align with your aspirations. It is a significant commitment on both sides; thus we only move to this stage if we really want to work with you. It's designed to help both sides make the right decision, and especially giving you a transparent opportunity to decide on a new career chapter. You will receive compensation for this.
