Job summary

Intergrid, a Helsinki-based energy tech leader, seeks a Head of Software Engineering to own the technical direction of the Autopilot and lead engineers who build the core product layers for autonomous energy operations.

You will coach a growing team, maintain architecture depth, and drive reliable, scalable software that enables real-time control across Europe. This leadership role reports to the CTO and shapes how we move fast with high integrity.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading high-performing software teams.
• Experience with event-driven or real-time systems in production.
• Strong English communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to set technical direction and build teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of Autopilot architecture and system design to scale a mission-critical platform.
• Lead and grow the software development team; hire, mentor, and shape ways of working.
• Drive engineering execution: code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, incident response.
• Lead Intergrid's AI strategy in engineering and embed AI into product and processes.
• Own the engineering roadmap; prioritise with product, analytics, and operations, and deliver on commitments.
• Act as a key interface between engineering and leadership, translating complexity into strategic decisions.
• Shape engineering practices, tooling, and build-vs-buy decisions across integrations and IoT connectivity.
