Job summary

ICEYE is seeking an AI & Automation Intern in Finance, based in Espoo with a hybrid work model. You will identify AI opportunities, gather requirements, and build lightweight AI-driven automations to reduce manual work in finance processes.

• Student or recent graduate in AI, data science, computer science, finance, economics or a related field.
• Experience with generative AI tools for real tasks and ability to write clear prompts.
• Experience with no-/low-code tools (Power Automate, Power Apps).
• Good Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables); Power Query is a plus.
• Basic scripting skills (Python or SQL) or willingness to build simple scripts with AI coding assistants.
• Awareness of AI limitations and handling confidential financial data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to explain technical topics in clear business language.
• Proactive, curious and comfortable experimenting with new solutions.
• Good command of English.

Responsibilities

• Identify repetitive Finance activities suitable for AI or automation.
• Gather and document business requirements from Finance users.
• Build self-contained AI solutions for Finance users, such as AI assistants and templates.
• Create lightweight tools with AI coding assistants when no-code is insufficient.
• Apply AI tools to invoices, contracts, reports, variance commentary and forecasting.
• Handover integrations to IT and cross-functional teams as Finance proxy.
• Test solutions and collect user feedback.
• Assess value, feasibility and risks of AI use cases.
• Prepare user guides and drive adoption within Finance.
• Maintain the Finance AI use-case pipeline and benefits tracking.
• Ensure data security and privacy with IT coordination.

Why this role matters:

We are looking for an AI & Automation Intern to help the Finance team identify, test and implement practical AI solutions. The role is focused on turning everyday Finance challenges into simple, valuable use cases that reduce manual work, improve data quality and support better decision-making.

The intern will work closely with Digital Finance and Finance teams, including Controllership, Finance Operations, FP&A, Treasury, Tax and Business Finance, as well as IT, AI, Automation, Data Lake, ERP and Integration teams for the delivery of more complex solutions.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

• Identify repetitive Finance activities suitable for AI or automation.

• Gather and document business requirements from Finance users.

• Build self-contained AI solutions for Finance users, such as custom AI assistants (e.g. Claude Projects, custom GPTs), reusable prompt templates and simple workflow automations (e.g. Power Automate).

• Where no-code is not enough, create lightweight tools with the help of AI coding assistants (e.g. simple Python scripts, Excel macros, basic Power Apps).

• Apply AI tools to everyday Finance tasks, such as extracting data from invoices and contracts, summarising reports, drafting variance commentary, reconciliations, forecasting support and cleaning or matching data in Excel.

• Hand over solutions that require integration with ERP, the data lake or other core systems to the relevant IT, AI, Automation, Data Lake, ERP or Integration teams, acting as the Finance-side proxy through to launch.

• Test solutions and collect feedback from users.

• Help assess the value, feasibility and risks of proposed AI use cases.

• Prepare user guides and support adoption within Finance.

• Maintain the Finance AI use-case pipeline and track delivered benefits.

• Ensure solutions follow company requirements for data security, privacy and responsible AI, in coordination with IT.

• Monitor AI market developments and bring relevant ideas to the team.

Scope of the role

The focus is on quick, practical wins that a single user or team can adopt within days or weeks. Building production systems, system integrations or training machine learning models is out of scope; these are delivered together with IT and the AI, Automation, Data Lake, ERP and Integration teams.

What we're looking for

• Student or recent graduate in AI, data science, computer science, finance, economics or a related field.

• Strong interest in both artificial intelligence and business processes.

• Hands-on experience using generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude) for real tasks, and the ability to write clear, structured prompts.

• Experience with, or strong interest in, no-/low-code tools (e.g. Power Automate, Power Apps).

• Good Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables); Power Query is a plus.

• Basic scripting skills (e.g. Python or SQL), or the willingness to build simple scripts with AI coding assistants.

• Awareness of AI limitations: verifying outputs, recognising hallucinations, and handling confidential financial data responsibly.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to explain technical topics in clear business language.

• Proactive, curious and comfortable experimenting with new solutions.

• Good command of English.

Nice to have

• Experience building an AI assistant that uses company documents as a knowledge source.

• Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation tools.

• Familiarity with financial processes or ERP systems.

• Basic experience with APIs.

• Valuable Finance AI use cases are identified and prioritised.

• Working prototypes are created and tested quickly.

• Manual effort is reduced through practical solutions.

• Several AI tools or automations are in regular use by Finance teams by the end of the internship.
