Airbus Defence and Space in Madrid offers an internship (curricular practicum) program for students in their final year of studies. You will prepare a final year project titled “Characterising embedded processors for avionics use cases” and participate in a 6‑month practicum from February to July 2027, with 5h per day (25h/week) and tutor supervision.

About practical training

6 months of curricular practicum at AIRBUS from February to July 2027

Part time: 5h / day – 25 hours per week (8h-13h)

Tutor assignment for continuous monitoring

Title: Characterising embedded processors for avionics use cases

Summary: Modern aircraft systems require increasing on‑board computing power, and commercial embedded processors offer attractive performance. However, avionics applications also demand predictable and reliable behaviour. The student will evaluate a commercial embedded processing platform against representative avionics use cases, developing test and benchmarking tools to assess its suitability.

• Introduction and motivation: Computing needs of modern aircraft and the key requirements for avionics processing platforms.
• State of the art: Embedded processing architectures and their software stacks, and public guidance for their use in avionics.
• Platform setup: Bring‑up of a commercial embedded development board and its software environment.
• Test and benchmarking tools: Definition of representative avionics workloads and development of automated measurement tools.
• Experimental evaluation: Characterisation of performance, predictability and resource usage under different operating conditions.
• Results, conclusions and future work: Assessment of the platform's suitability for avionics use cases and recommendations.

• Studying Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related fields
• English: min. level B2 (C1 desirable)
