Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Water Utilities Engineer to join the Operations Team within the AWS Utilities Team at the ZAZ cluster in Zaragoza, Spain. The role focuses on operating and optimizing water treatment systems and chemical processes across the data center fleet, including RO equipment, disinfection, and cooling circuits.

The EOT hands-on position requires expertise in water chemistry, system design, and infrastructure management to ensure reliable operation of AWS data centers.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws.
• Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Extensive knowledge of water treatment technologies and processes.
• Experience with industrial water system design and operation.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems, fluid mechanics, and water distribution network design.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles applied to water infrastructure (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for water system infrastructure and chemical treatments.
• Oversee critical systems including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and oxidant systems.
• Develop and maintain Legionella prevention programs.
• Implement Water Utilization Efficiency (WUE) improvements.
• Review and influence water chemistry and treatment designs for new facilities.
• Coordinate with design engineering teams on system specifications.
• Review construction documents and provide technical guidance.
• Manage preventative maintenance programs.
• Create and implement standard operating procedures.
• Monitor system performance and establish benchmarks.
• Coordinate with operations managers and field engineering teams.
