Merlin Digital Partner in Barcelona is seeking a Venture Capital Analyst to join a small, senior team and contribute across the full investment cycle from sourcing to monitoring. You will interact directly with top-tier VC managers and gain rapid hands-on responsibility from day one.

The role requires 2–4 years in VC/PE or related finance, a Business/ Economics/ Engineering/ Mathematics degree, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifikationen

• 2–4 years in Venture Capital, Private Equity, Investment Banking, Transaction Services, Strategy Consulting or a finance role in a startup
• Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• Advanced Excel skills: financial modelling, large datasets and building models from scratch
• Hands-on use of AI tools in daily work to automate analysis and speed up research
• Fluent Spanish and English, since English is used daily with international fund managers
• Analytical mindset, rigour and attention to detail
• Autonomy, organisation and a proactive, builder attitude
• Real passion for technology, startups and Venture Capital
• Availability to work on-site in Barcelona

Aufgaben

• Identify and map VC funds and managers in Europe and the US, focusing on early-stage technology
• Carry out due diligence on fund managers: strategy, team, track record and terms
• Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to the Investment Committee
• Support negotiating and closing new commitments
• Track portfolio: capital calls, distributions, valuations and capital accounts
• Build and update portfolio models and metrics (TVPI, DPI, MOIC, IRR)
• Analyse underlying startups within the portfolio
• Manage internal data on funds, managers and companies
• Prepare regular investor reports and create analyses for senior leadership

Our partner is a well-established investment firm with a long and proven track record in Venture Capital. Their investment team backs leading VC funds across Europe and the United States, giving them a privileged view of the global technology and startup ecosystem.

They are entering a new phase of growth in their Venture Capital activity, and are looking for a Venture Capital Analyst to strengthen the investment team in Barcelona.

Mission

As a Venture Capital Analyst, you will play a key role across the entire investment cycle, from finding and analysing new opportunities to monitoring the portfolio and reporting to investors.

You will join a small, senior team with no intermediate layers. That means real responsibility from day one, direct contact with top-tier VC managers on both sides of the Atlantic, and a clear path to grow as the activity scales.

The Role:

Investing

• Identifying and mapping VC funds and managers in Europe and the US, with a focus on early-stage technology
• Carrying out due diligence on fund managers: strategy, team, track record and terms
• Preparing investment memos and presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee
• Supporting the team in negotiating and closing new commitments

Portfolio Management & Monitoring

• Tracking the portfolio: capital calls, distributions, valuations and capital accounts
• Building and updating portfolio models and key metrics (TVPI, DPI, MOIC, IRR, cash-flow forecasts)
• Analysing the underlying startups within the portfolio
• Managing and getting value from internal data on funds, managers and companies

Reporting

• Preparing regular investor reports
• Creating analysis and presentations for senior leadership

What we need:
