Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to enhance vector similarity search in Elasticsearch. You will design and implement new vector search features, contribute to core code, and push the boundaries of speed and relevance at scale.

You will work with a globally distributed team, mentor engineers, and review code while enabling scalable, robust vector search capabilities. Strong Java expertise and experience with vector databases are essential to succeed.

Formación

• Experience with vector similarity on large-scale search platforms.
• Proficiency in core Java and concurrent data structures.
• Experience collaborating asynchronously over the internet.

Responsabilidades

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to produce an industry-leading vector database offering, supplying unparalleled speed and relevance in search.
• Contribute to Elasticsearch full time, building new search features and fixing intriguing bugs, all while making the code easier to understand.
• Work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers focused on the vector search capabilities of Elasticsearch.
• Be an expert on how Elasticsearch implements vector similarity in support of search relevance and contribute improvements.
• Collaborate with community members on issues and pull requests, sometimes triaging or handing off to others.
• Write idiomatic modern Java.
