Job summary

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center invites applications for an Urban Flow Modelling Research Engineer (RE1) in the Earth Sciences Department. The role focuses on microscale urban air quality modeling, integrating AI, CFD, and observational data to develop user-oriented tools for European projects.

Starting date is 15 December 2026. The contract is full-time (35h/week) with a competitive salary and benefits including restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation support.

Qualifications

• Master in engineering or related disciplines.
• Experience in air quality models and AI methods (1-3 years).
• Experience in statistical methods in R and/or Python.
• Previous experience with CFD.
• Ability to work in a professional environment within a multidisciplinary research team.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and evaluate model results against observations.
• Develop machine learning workflows based on in-situ observations and model outputs.
• Multidisciplinary research, working with scientists, IT developers, and policy-makers.
• Communicate scientific results within the Department and at international conferences.
