Job summary

Sherpa.ai in Madrid is seeking a Technical Project & Delivery Manager to lead the successful implementation of AI solutions. This hands-on role blends technical presales, engineering coordination, and end-to-end delivery ownership across projects.

You will translate complex requirements into executable plans, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience in technical project management or technology delivery
• Proven track record delivering complex enterprise software projects
• Strong experience managing engineering teams, resources, timelines and budgets

The Role

We are looking for a highly organized, technically skilled, and execution-driven Technical Project & Delivery Manager to lead the successful implementation of our AI solutions.

This role combines technical presales, engineering coordination, project management, and end-to-end delivery ownership.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills, and a proven ability to translate complex requirements into executable project plans, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, and consistently deliver results on time and within budget.

This is a hands-on execution role, not just a project coordination position. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, anticipates problems, makes decisions, and ensures things get done.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Presales & Solution Definition

• Work closely with the commercial team during technical presales activities.
• Gather, analyze, and document customer requirements, including functional and technical specifications.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and implementation plans.
• Develop solution diagrams, system architectures, workflows, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to assess technical feasibility, complexity, resource requirements, and implementation timelines.
• Support the preparation of technical proposals, statements of work (SOWs), project estimates, and delivery commitments.
• Identify potential technical risks and dependencies before project initiation.

2. Technical Project Management

• Own the end-to-end execution of technical projects, from initial planning through successful delivery.
• Define project scope, deliverables, milestones, timelines, budgets, and success criteria.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including task breakdowns, dependencies, and critical paths.
• Allocate and coordinate engineering resources across multiple projects.
• Monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve issues affecting delivery.
• Manage project priorities, risks, dependencies, and changes in scope.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to agreed technical and quality standards.
• Establish clear accountability, reporting mechanisms, and execution processes.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities.

3. Engineering Management & Coordination

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including AI/ML engineers, software developers, data engineers, and infrastructure specialists.
• Translate project objectives into clear technical tasks, priorities, and deliverables.
• Plan engineering capacity and optimize resource allocation.
• Monitor engineering productivity, execution progress, and delivery performance.
• Identify technical blockers and coordinate their resolution.
• Facilitate collaboration between engineering, product, sales, and customer teams.
• Ensure technical documentation, development standards, and quality requirements are maintained.
• Work closely with technical leads to make informed decisions regarding architecture, implementation, and technical trade-offs.

4. Delivery Management & Customer Success

• Take full responsibility for successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and production handover.
• Manage customer expectations, delivery commitments, and project communications.
• Ensure alignment between contractual commitments, technical capabilities, and actual delivery.
• Oversee acceptance testing, quality assurance, and final project validation.
• Track delivery performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Manage project handovers to support and operations teams.
• Ensure projects achieve their intended business outcomes.

5. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

• Establish and improve project management methodologies, processes, and tools.
• Implement standardized planning, reporting, and delivery frameworks.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators related to project execution.
• Improve resource utilization, project predictability, and engineering efficiency.
• Identify recurring delivery issues and implement corrective actions.
• Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5-10+ years of experience in technical project management, software engineering management, or technology delivery.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex enterprise software projects.
• Strong experience managing engineering teams, technical resources, timelines, and budgets.
• Experience in technical presales, requirements gathering, and solution definition.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, system architecture, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise integrations.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies, Scrum, Kanban, and traditional project management approaches.
• Familiarity with project management and development tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar.
• Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Technical Background

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
• Previous hands-on experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or technical implementation is highly desirable.
• Ability to understand technical architectures, review diagrams, and engage in meaningful discussions with engineering teams.
• Knowledge of AI/ML technologies, LLMs, AI agents, or data platforms is a strong advantage.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, databases, and legacy applications is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.
