Digital Realty, Inc. is seeking a Technical Operations Planner to join our Madrid Operations team. This role is key in planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance activities for our data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge combined with planning expertise, ensuring our facilities operate efficiently and reliably.

The successful candidate should have an associate degree in a relevant technical field and experience in critical technical environments. You will play an integral part in maintaining our operational standards while liaising with several stakeholders.

Formación

  • Experience working within a critical technical environment, such as data centers, industrial manufacturing, utilities, or telecommunications.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities and planning technical work.
  • Understanding of maintenance planning methodologies and contractor coordination.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Job Description

We're looking for a Technical Operations Planner to join our Madrid Operations team.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities across our critical data center infrastructure. Working closely with Operations teams, Site Management, contractors, and suppliers, you'll help ensure our facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.

You'll combine technical knowledge, planning expertise, and stakeholder management to optimize maintenance activities, improve operational performance, and contribute to the long‑term reliability of our assets.

What You'll Do
Maintenance Planning & Coordination
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities across critical infrastructure.
  • Manage maintenance requests from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery within agreed SLAs and OLAs.
  • Coordinate maintenance contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and with minimal operational impact.
  • Develop and maintain the annual maintenance plan in partnership with Site Management and the Manager, Technical Operations Planning.
  • Support outage planning and maintenance scheduling to maximize operational resilience.
Operational Excellence
  • Prioritize maintenance requests in collaboration with Service Operations.
  • Monitor maintenance performance, KPIs, and service levels, producing regular reports and recommendations.
  • Lead regular operational reviews with maintenance contractors to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with Digital Realty's Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety standards.
  • Support first-, second-, and third-line operational support activities, including problem management and root cause analysis when required.
  • Manage supplier performance for maintenance services, ensuring contractual obligations and service quality are consistently met.
  • Contribute to long‑term asset management strategies by maintaining accurate maintenance records and master data.
  • Support procurement activities related to maintenance services and technical vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze trends and maintenance data to identify recurring issues and recommend preventive actions.
  • Support improvement initiatives across Technical Operations.
  • Participate in special projects and business initiatives as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree, Higher Vocational Qualification (FP Superior), or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience working within a critical technical environment, such as data centers, industrial manufacturing, utilities, or telecommunications.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities and planning technical work.
  • Experience with maintenance scheduling, reporting, and work management systems.
  • Understanding of maintenance planning methodologies and contractor coordination.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the data center, critical facilities, or telecommunications sector.
  • Knowledge of Asset Management principles.
  • Experience working within an ITIL environment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or Enterprise Asset Management systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Planon, or similar).
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical critical infrastructure.
