Job summary

GMV in Spain is expanding its space sector teams to lead a 5G NTN satellite payload project. We are seeking an engineer to provide technical leadership in defining, integrating and verifying the payload, including SDR, 3GPP firmware, and RF front-end.

You will coordinate interfaces between equipment, suppliers and the space system, define requirements and test plans, and manage risks while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent and relevant experience.
• Experience in integration or development of complex electronic or communications systems.
• Experience defining requirements, interfaces and test plans; ability to coordinate suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in English.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the payload requirements, architecture and interfaces.
• Coordinate integration of the SDR, firmware and RF front-end with the platform and ground segment.
• Review requirements and performance specs for RF, processing, synchronisation, power and data.
• Provide technical coordination for suppliers and in-house specialists.
• Identify risks, incompatibilities and outstanding technical decisions.

WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?

To recruit an engineer to provide technical leadership in the definition, integration and verification of a 5G NTN satellite communications payload. The project involves the integration of an SDR, 3GPP firmware and an RF front-end.

The successful candidate will coordinate the interfaces between this equipment, the suppliers and the rest of the space system, ensuring that the solution meets mission requirements and can be integrated and tested. Their duties will include the following:

• Defining and maintaining the payload’s requirements, architecture and interfaces.
• Coordinating the integration of the SDR, firmware and RF front-end, and their connections to the platform and ground segment.
• Reviewing requirements and performance specifications for RF, processing, synchronisation, power consumption and data.
• Providing technical coordination for suppliers and in-house specialists.
• Identifying risks, incompatibilities and outstanding technical decisions.

WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?

We are looking for candidates with a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent, and with experience in:

• The integration or development of complex electronic or communications systems.
• Solid knowledge in at least one of the following areas: radio frequency, SDR or signal processing; ability to liaise with specialists in the other areas.
• Experience in defining requirements, interfaces and test plans.
• Ability to coordinate suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Technical English.
