The Position

Core Lab Development (CLD), a part of Roche Diagnostics Solutions (RDS), is the global organization responsible for the development of tests in the area of clinical and immunochemistry, coagulation and mass spec and the related analytic systems. In addition, core lab also focuses on the development of lab automation comprising transport systems as well as pre- and post-analytical systems and the integration of the various systems to a comprehensive solution.

The Opportunity

As an important component of this mission, the Solution Automation Integration & Test (SAIT) Subchapter is tasked with providing essential services and capabilities to ensure the seamless integration, testing, and simulation of our Automation Systems and End-to-End Solutions. Within the SAIT Subchapter, we are seeking a Solution Workflow Simulation Team Lead.

As the SWS Team Lead, you will be an integral member of the SAIT subchapter, responsible for guiding a team of Simulation and Modeling Engineers spread between 3 sites. This team's core accountability lies in modeling complex laboratory workflows, optimizing system throughput, developing digital twins, and delivering virtual testing and emulation tools to support automation systems integration and operational decision-making.

You will provide decisive leadership to your team, offering expert guidance, comprehensive coaching, and steadfast support throughout all phases of project execution. A key aspect of your role will be fostering a culture defined by high performance, continuous improvement, and clear accountability. We seek candidates who are deeply committed to Roche's Vision, Architect, Coach, Catalyst (VACC) leadership model, adeptly combining these fundamental roles and behaviors with a collaborative approach.

Your main tasks and responsabilities
People Leadership

As a Team Lead, you will be instrumental in cultivating an innovative and positive team culture while driving performance through effective goal-setting, continuous feedback, and tailored professional development plans. You will expertly navigate organizational change, manage a mix of internal FTEs, contractors, managed services, and apprentices, resolve conflicts to maintain a harmonious environment, and ensure full compliance with all training, quality, and employment regulations.

Resource Management

You plan, direct, and monitor team resources and costs, focusing on short-term subchapter goals and tool planning. This includes resolving problems, making decisions, balancing resources between core R&D tool development and incoming simulation service requests, and ensuring adherence to budget and headcount targets through effective workforce and vendor management.

Execution of strategic priorities

In this role, you translate high-level unit goals into actionable team priorities, ensuring their achievement through optimal resource and work allocation. You will drive the continuous evolution and modernization of our simulation software platforms, common model library and oversee the different emulator roadmap. Collaborating closely with the Sub-Chapter Lead and other Team Leads, you will identify and address strategic capability needs, support operational activities, and contribute to defining the simulation/emulation strategy to ensure short-term and long-term virtual testing infrastructure needs are met.

Vision and impact

You will formulate the departmental vision, contributing to the development of team strategies and corporate processes. You will drive digital simulation as a key enabler for architecture, R&D, and commercial site planning, fostering efficiency across Core Lab Development and R&D for a continuously improving, modern, and state-of-the-art organization, including optimization of shared lab resources and simulation/emulation infrastructure.
