Job description

At Verdalia Bioenergy, we see organic waste as a resource, not a problem. Backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, we develop, build and operate biomethane plants across Spain and Italy, turning agricultural and agri-food waste into renewable gas and biofertilizers. We combine long-term vision with the speed and ambition of a scale-up, and we're building the team that will lead Europe's green energy transition.

YOUR IMPACT

As Tax Manager – Spain, you'll own tax compliance, inspections and the technical tax agenda of our Spanish holdings and project companies, with the possibility of taking on the UK depending on your profile.

Reporting to the Group Accounting & Reporting Director, you'll work side by side with the Tax Manager for Italy on a single group tax calendar and group-wide topics such as transfer pricing, and support the CFO on structure and transactions. This is a hands-on role, combining technical depth with a strong focus on tools and processes.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Prepare Spanish tax compliance hands-on: VAT and SII, withholdings, corporate income tax and the tax group.
  • Keep a single group tax calendar with the Tax Manager for Italy, ensuring every filing is on time.
  • Lead tax requests and inspections in Spain, and manage VAT refunds with Treasury.
  • Own transfer pricing policy and documentation with Italy, and the Spanish tax consolidation regime.
  • Support the CFO on structure, interest limitation rules and M&A tax, coordinating external advisers.
  • Prepare tax provisions and deferred taxes for the close and statutory accounts.
  • Own the tax set-up in NetSuite for Spain: tax codes, reverse charge, SII and e-invoicing.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Degree in Law, Economics or Business, with a tax specialisation.
  • 8+ years in tax, including Big 4 or in-house group tax in a multi-entity group.
  • Deep knowledge of Spanish tax compliance: VAT, SII, corporate tax, tax groups and withholdings.
  • Experience coordinating tax in other jurisdictions through advisers.
  • Comfortable with ERP data and reconciling tax books to the ledger.
  • Fluent Spanish and a good command of English. Italian is a plus.
NICE TO HAVE
  • Background in energy, infrastructure or groups with multiple SPVs, including grants and incentives.
  • Transfer pricing and M&A tax experience.
  • UK tax exposure (VAT, corporation tax).
WHY JOIN US
  • Shape the tax function of a growing international group, turning tax requirements into clear processes and systems.
  • Work directly with the CFO on structure and transactions, with real visibility and ownership.
  • Be part of a company turning waste into renewable energy and leading Europe's energy transition.
