UAV Avionics Systems Integration Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled UAV Avionics Systems Integration Engineer with strong experience in unmanned aircraft modelling, simulation, and avionics integration. This role involves leading the development, integration, and validation of advanced avionics and flight-control systems across cutting-edge UAV platforms. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high-performance autonomous flight systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate avionics hardware and software, including autopilots, sensors, communications systems, and payloads
  • Develop and validate UAV dynamic models for simulation and flight-control development
  • Support flight-control tuning, system verification, and mission-readiness activities
  • Conduct full-system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization in lab and flight environments
  • Create technical documentation, wiring diagrams, system architecture documents, and test reports
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and flight-test teams to ensure seamless system operation
  • Contribute to system architecture definition, interface control, and safety planning
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Proven experience in UAV systems engineering with an emphasis on hardware and system-architecture definition (aerospace / defence experience preferred)
  • Experience in UAV avionics integration and embedded flight-control systems
  • Demonstrated experience in UAV modelling / simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB / Simulink, PX4 / ArduPilot, ROS, Gazebo)
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX preferred) for 3D modelling, wiring diagrams, and system layouts
  • Strong understanding of aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, electrical systems, signal routing, and power distribution
  • Experience with system integration, assembly, and functional testing
  • Familiarity with UAV regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Experience with writing SORAs and previous interaction with EASA (desired)
  • Demonstrable UAV flight-test experience and practical integration / troubleshooting skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and excellent documentation skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork capabilities in multi-disciplinary environments
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
Desired Skills & Certifications
  • Experience as a GCS Operator or External Pilot
  • Civil UAV pilot licences (A1, A2, A3) and military DUO licence (asset)
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing experience
  • Knowledge of RF systems and telemetry architectures
