Orange Business Services is seeking a Linux Engineer to operate and improve Linux-based platforms supporting customer solutions and internal services. The role emphasizes automation, security hardening, and collaboration with DevOps across the Core Services team in a hybrid Madrid setup.

You will work with Linux specialists, contribute to IaC, and participate in CI/CD workflows while focusing on reducing technical debt and standardizing platform delivery.

Formación

• Solid experience with Linux systems in production.
• Good Linux administration competence, ideally on Red Hat–based platforms.
• Experience with automation and IaC using Ansible and/or Terraform.
• Understanding of system security and hardening.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

The team, position & mission:

The Core Services team is a central part of the Delivery organization in Orange Business and is responsible for delivering and operating core platform and infrastructure services that customer teams and internal services depend on. The team has overall responsibility for several different distribution platforms, ensuring that foundational services are reliable, secure, and fit for purpose.

Within Core Services, platform responsibilities are clearly defined, and this role is focused on the Linux platform domain. You will work alongside other Linux specialists while collaborating closely across sub teams in Core Services as well as other internal teams in our Delivery organization.

We focus on reducing technical debt, strengthening standardization, and improving platform delivery through shared tooling and expertise.

As a Linux Engineer, you will work with the operation and ongoing improvement of Linux based platforms supporting customer solutions and internal services.
The current team, including the reporting manager, Head of Core Services, is based in the Nordics - Norway/Sweden. Our hybrid way of working allows for easy inclusion of new colleagues from other locations, and as such, these positions will be working from our Madrid office.

Your key areas of responsibility as Systems Engineer - Linux:

• Operate and maintain Linux platforms across environments.
• Troubleshoot incidents, problems, and operational issues.

• Support DevOps and CI/CD workflows using tools such as GitLab.
• Apply security best practices including hardening and access control.

As an ideal candidate you have:

• Solid experience working with Linux systems in production.
• Good Linux administration competence, ideally on Red Hat–based platforms.
• Experience with automation and IaC using Ansible and/or Terraform.
• Understanding of system security and hardening.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

It is not a requirement, but other preferred qualifications would be:

• Familiarity with working in ServiceNow
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflow
• Knowledge of PCI DSS requirements is an advantage where applicable and applying security hardening best practices is an integral part of the role. The role requires willingness and capability to be a part of PCI work, working closely with security and compliance colleagues to support compliant design and operation.
