Novanta Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer specialized in functional safety to join Novanta Robotics and Automation.

You will translate customer needs into system requirements, architectures, and verification strategies across hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical disciplines, focusing on safety concepts and compliance with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA), and contribute to safety case documentation and

Formación

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in systems engineering or functional safety.
• Experience with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849 guidance.
• Knowledge of risk and failure analysis methods (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA).
• Full professional proficiency in English.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and maintain system requirements and architecture.
• Maintain traceability across the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, quality and product teams.
• Define safety concepts and safety-related architectures.
• Develop and support safety analyses (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA).
• Perform safety calculations (PFH, MTTFd, DC, SFF) and ensure compliance.
• Contribute to safety case documentation and certification readiness.
