Novanta is seeking a Hardware Engineer within Novanta R&A to develop robust high‑performance electronics for motion control products. The role covers system‑level design and detailed design of control electronics, power management, and interfaces for industrial and medical motion applications.

You will work with cross‑functional teams from concept through production, emphasizing reliability and manufacturability.

Formación

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year working experience.
  • Experience with electronic circuit design and assembly processes.
  • Background in electrical power applications.
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in electronics verification and validation.
  • Ability to write technical documents such as assembly instructions, test procedures, and test and analysis reports.
  • Altium Designer proven experience.
  • Fluent written and spoken Spanish and English.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and maintain the hardware running the R&A products, with special focus on stepper motors.
  • Design new and redesign existing electronic circuits, including schematic and layout.
  • Conduct detailed circuit analysis and optimize designs through effective component selection and performance evaluation, including circuit simulation.
  • Hands‑on new hardware board bring‑up, system debugging, and optimization.
  • Review and improve external documentation (Product manuals, Datasheets, etc.).
  • Improve internal documentation (Architecture, Detailed Design, etc.).
  • Define, in conjunction with the Quality Assurance team, the Test and Verification Plans.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams and stakeholders to align technical requirements and solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers to support product development and integration.

Job Summary

The Hardware Engineer role within Novanta R&A focuses on the development of robust, high‑performance electronics for the different motion control products within the group. The position involves system‑level design of motion control solutions and detailed design of control electronics, power management, and communication interfaces for industrial and medical motion applications. Working closely with cross‑functional teams and customers, the role supports both standard platforms and customized solutions from concept through production, with a strong emphasis on reliability, manufacturability, and long‑term product performance.

The selected engineer will be focused on collaborating with the operations team in quality and operational improvements of all the hardware designs of the stepper motors product line. The selected engineer will also collaborate in the design, implementation and verification of the new designs of potentially any of the R&A products. The position requires good hardware skills but also a deep understanding of design for manufacturing and reliability.

Minimum Requirements
Required Experience, Skills and Education
  • Ms or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering, or technical related discipline
  • Minimum working experience 1 year
  • Experience with Electronic circuit technology design and assembly processes
  • Background in electrical power applications
  • Experience with PCB / PCA manufacturing processes
  • Experience in electronics verificaton and validation
  • Ability to write technical documents such as assembly instructions, test procedures, and test and analysis reports
  • Altium Designer proven experience
  • Fluent written and spoken Spanish and English.
