Overview
Project: DNS Squad for Deutsche Telekom AG. The DNS Squad (12 team members) holds the end-to-end responsibility for the resolving and authoritative DNS systems. These platforms are part of the critical infrastructure and central core components of our German network. We are looking for two DevOps Engineers to join the team for the Mobile DNS platform. This platform resolves all DNS requests from the mobile network. You will work closely with our supplier and DevOps engineers to design, integrate, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot the mobile DNS platform.
Responsibilities
- Implementation and operation of physical, virtualized and containerized system environments
- Analysis, troubleshooting and documentation of system malfunctions
- Regular checks and refinement of automated processes and strategies such as failover, deployment and disaster recovery to ensure a highly available and resilient system with minimum recovery time
- Identification, documentation and structuring of new test use cases
- Optimization (development) of scripts (Ansible, Bash, Perl, Python)
- Implementing changes in test, reference and productive systems to enhance system stability and / or provide new features
- Development of new methods and tools for data analysis and monitoring
- Cooperation with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end system functionality
- Collaborate closely with the German operations team to streamline processes, enhance software, tools and system performance and apply innovative technologies and concepts
Qualifications
Mandatory skills :
- Fundamental knowledge of DNS (Bind & PowerDNS, DoH / DoT / DoQ) — preferably experience in a TelCo company
- Proficiency in using and adapting Ansible
- Experience with IP networks, router and LAN / WAN technologies and troubleshooting with tracing tools (e.g., Wireshark)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring systems (Grafana, CheckMK, Telegraf, …)
- Extensive know-how in configuring Linux-based operating systems (RedHat9 and SUSE 15)
Optional skills :
- Very good analytical skills combined with strong quality awareness
- Experience in classic and agile forms of cooperation
Additional info
Being on-call for around 8 weeks per year and rarely performing changes outside of regular working hours.
