Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer, Money Movement based in Spain, to lead the design and build of a trust accounting platform for property managers. You will own architecture, set engineering standards, and mentor the team while collaborating with product, finance, and legal stakeholders across the EMEA region.

Qualifications

• At least eight years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of two years operating at Staff Engineer level or in an equivalent senior technical leadership position.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language, with experience building and maintaining production-grade services.
• Proven experience designing, delivering, and operating business-critical backend systems used by real customers at scale.
• Strong architectural judgment, with the ability to design systems that start simple, evolve sustainably, and balance immediate delivery needs with future scalability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through technical credibility, clear communication, and collaboration across teams.
• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure and production operations, particularly AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and service reliability.
• Strong understanding of system observability, automated testing, security, fault tolerance, and operational challenges of distributed services.
• Adaptability when working across multiple programming languages and existing codebases.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with accounting systems, financial infrastructure, ledger products, or accounting principles is a significant advantage.
• Hands‑on production experience with Go (Golang) is desirable.
• Ability to work remotely from Germany while collaborating with EMEA colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and greenfield development of the first version of a trust accounting platform.
• Design, build, and operate secure, scalable, auditable backend services for accurate financial records and fund management.
• Establish foundations for financial correctness, data integrity, compliance, and accountability.
• Develop QA practices, automated testing, quality gates, and CI/CD integration for reliable releases.
• Drive engineering best practices in design, observability, security, resilience, and production operations.
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions balancing delivery speed with maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, design, finance, and legal to translate requirements into solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers through reviews and pairing.
• Ensure integration with existing products and scalability for increasing transaction volumes.
• Monitor production performance and continuously improve reliability and throughput.
