Job summary

Scopely in Barcelona is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to join an early-stage, unannounced MMO/Strategy project on a hybrid basis (3 days on site per week). You will lead backend feature development, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor engineers.

You will design scalable backend architecture, drive performance improvements, and define technical roadmaps with Design and Product. Proficiency in Go, Python, and C#, microservices, cloud-native development, and container

Qualifications

• Experience building highly available backend systems for large-scale games or web services.
• Proven ability to lead complex backend projects and mentor engineers.
• Strong knowledge of Go, Python and C# in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new backend features for our game on a cross functional team.
• Mentor backend engineers and conduct regular code reviews.
• Identify bottlenecks, propose scalable technical strategies and optimize code for performance.
• Collaborate with Design, Product and other engineering teams to define roadmaps.
• Enforce best practices for maintainable, scalable distributed backend architecture.
