Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to lead architecture and development of our Android applications in a remote-capable position. You will shape standards, mentor the Android chapter, and drive scalable, modular solutions across multiple teams.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in Android, a track record of large-scale platform initiatives, and a focus on performance, maintainability, and developer experience. Strong collaboration with product, design and QA is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Android development or staff-level impact
• Proven experience leading architecture decisions and large migrations
• Focus on scalability, maintainability, developer experience, and long-term platform health
• Experience working in agile teams with planning and prioritization
• Excellent English communication and technical documentation

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction, architecture, and long-term evolution of our Android applications
• Guide the Android chapter through standards, mentoring, reviews, and technical decision-making
• Propose scalable modular solutions that support multiple teams and a growing product
• Work closely with Product, Design, QA, Infrastructure, and other Staff-level partners
• Drive modernization initiatives, manage technical debt and improve the developer experience
• Translate product strategy and complex requirements into clear technical approaches
