An international software company in Santiago de Compostela is seeking a mid-senior level Software Developer with expertise in C++ to contribute to the engine software for mass spectrometers. The ideal candidate will work in a hybrid role, participating in the full software development lifecycle, aligning with interdisciplinary teams, and engaging in a collaborative environment. A degree in Computer Science and solid experience in C++ development are essential to succeed in this dynamic position.

Formación

Overview

Software Developer C++ mass spectrometry instrument control (m/f/d)

As part of SciY, the software division of Bruker, we collaborate closely with the other SciY and Bruker companies, working together to achieve our goals.

To complement our remote software development team, we are looking for an innovative, collaborative and experienced software developer (m/f/d) to contribute to the engine software of our mass spectrometers. This engine serves as the interface between the graphical user interface (GUI) and the instrument firmware, handling core tasks such as instrument control, data acquisition, and diagnostics.

Responsibilities
  • Contribution to the engine software of our mass spectrometers, which serves as the interface between the graphical user interface (GUI) and the instrument firmware.
  • Handling core tasks such as instrument control, data acquisition, and diagnostics.
  • Participating in the entire software development lifecycle: requirements specification, implementation, debugging, documentation, testing, and support.
  • Implementing new requirements and enhance existing functionalities.
  • Collaborating closely with instrument users and the software testing team.
  • Transforming software prototypes into robust, production-ready solutions.
  • Working within an Agile project team and maintain active communication with team members.
  • You also engage with colleagues from software testing, hardware development, applications, and service departments in a multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications and skills
  • You hold a degree in computer science or possess equivalent knowledge and skills gained through an engineering or natural sciences background.
  • You have strong proficiency in C++ development on Windows using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • You are familiar with modern development tools such as Git, Maven, and others.
  • You can understand, maintain, and extend existing source code.
  • You enjoy working close to hardware, including testing your software directly on mass spectrometers.
  • You are open to participating in peer code reviews.
  • You thrive in interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively, even with colleagues who do not have an IT background.
  • You are eager to learn new technologies, including embedded systems and real-time operating systems.
  • You are able to communicate fluently at all levels in English
