Zurich Insurance Group, Barcelona, seeks a Senior Software Asset Management Specialist to optimize licensing for Microsoft, Oracle and Red Hat across a global SAM function. You will analyze licensing data, drive cost savings, ensure compliance and collaborate with multiple stakeholder groups within Zurich Group.

The role requires deep IT and licensing knowledge, strong data analysis, and a proactive, collaborative mindset to Shape SAM strategy across the organization.

Formación

• 5+ years of proven experience managing Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat software portfolios in enterprise environments.
• Experience delivering optimized ELPs from data collection to completion.
• Strong knowledge of license restrictions, optimization opportunities, and BYOL in cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft system usage billing and cost-tracking tools.
• Proficient in SAM tools such as FlexeraOne and supporting data sources.
• Advanced MS Excel skills (V/H-Lookups, Pivot Tables, complex calculations).
• Proven track record of adopting AI solutions in SAM operations.
• Experience with P&L calculations and cost accruals.

The Role

Zurich Insurance group is looking for a senior SAM specialist who specializes primarily in Microsoft enterprise software and secondarily in Oracle or Red Hat to join global Software Asset Management function with an objective to optimize software contract spend, manage compliance, analyses data, draw the relevant conclusions and then work with others to implement opportunities or remediate risks. This is a challenging senior role, requiring a broad understanding of IT technology, service management processes and the ability to collaborate with many different stakeholder groups within Zurich Group.

Group Technology and Operations Software Asset Management comprises of an international team of SAM experts in four countries, who manage a multi-million-dollar software portfolio and SAM technology stack to support IT stakeholders in achieving their objectives. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who would like to work at a groupwide global level in defining and implementing 'Best Practice' methodologies related to SAM service in Microsoft and Oracle or/and Red Hat space.

As a Software Asset Management Specialist you will have the opportunity to:

• Subject matter expertise, in‑depth and proven knowledge of SAM operations and competencies, with ability to apply and advise on complex software licensing topics and produce ELPs specifically for Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat across all IT environments.
• Understand Microsoft licensing concepts and product use rights within containers, in on prem as well as in cloud operating environments.
• Navigate and leverage Microsoft software related billing, tracking and measurement systems and tools like Azure Active Directory, CMDB, My Access, Intune.
• Navigate and leverage Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat software related billing, tracking and measurement systems.
• Provide transparency of costs for SW contracts and assure fair allocation of charges to BUs and Service owners based on software usage.
• Negotiate successfully across the organization and with external suppliers/vendors in a constructive and collaborative manner.
• Maintain stakeholder community and enables information sharing environment.
• Identify and drive proactively initiatives to achieve SW related savings, mitigate compliance risks, developing best practices and processes, to continuously improve software asset management service and to ensure compliance with budget and contractual requirements.
• Identify necessary changes and play key role in the complex software contract negotiations, manage demand and contract updates, liaise with external vendors, legal, contract and sourcing teams.
• Support and drive implementation of global SAM standards, processes, controls, reporting, and monitor agreed performance indicators and control metrics.
• Improve continuously SAM by leveraging AI capabilities to reduce manual effort, able to identify recurring patterns and spot optimization opportunities.
• Support other day‑to‑day activities of the global SAM team

• 5+ years of relevant proven experience with:
  • direct responsibility and hands‑on management of Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat software portfolio in enterprise environment (irrespective of industry),
  • creating comprehensive fully optimized ELPs from data collection until finish
  • strong understanding of license restrictions, benefits, optimization opportunities, BYOL concepts for product use within AWS/Azure Cloud,
  • active hands‑on work with general Microsoft specific system and usage billing, tracking and measurement tools,
  • proficient use of SAM tools (ideally FlexeraOne) and supporting data sources,
  • advanced hands‑on MS Excel skills (V/H-Look Ups, Pivots, Complex calculations, …),
  • proven track record in adopting and embedding AI solutions in SAM operations,
  • profit and Loss (P&L) calculations and accruals for cost impact.
• Fluent spoken and written English (strong B2+).
