Zurich Insurance is seeking a Software Asset Management Analyst to lead licensing across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. You will work with major vendors and internal stakeholders to optimize licensing, ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes data‑driven reporting, cost allocation, and global SAM governance, with opportunities to implement AI enhancements and automation. Barcelona based, on‑site with flexible working options.

Formación

  • 3+ years managing a software portfolio for a major publisher in an enterprise setting.
  • Experience creating fully optimized ELPs from data collection to completion.
  • Solid understanding of license restrictions, benefits and optimization opportunities.
  • Proficient with SAM tools (preferably FlexeraOne) and related data sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, pivots and complex calculations.
  • Experience applying AI solutions in SAM operations.
  • Experience with P&L calculations and cost accruals.
  • Fluent English both spoken and written (B2+).

Responsabilidades

  • Serve as SAM subject matter expert; produce ELPs and licensing guidance.
  • Manage and optimize licensing for vendors like Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Red Hat.
  • Apply licensing concepts to cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments.
  • Use data from Azure AD, CMDB, Intune to support SAM reporting and billing.
  • Ensure transparent cost allocation and chargeback processes.
  • Lead negotiations with vendors and drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Identify cost savings and strengthen SAM controls and practices.
  • Support contract negotiations with sourcing, legal and procurement.
  • Contribute to global SAM standards and governance; drive automation initiatives.
  • Drive innovation in SAM through AI and process improvements.

Software Asset Management Analyst

As a Software Asset Management Analyst you will have the opportunity to play a central role in managing and optimizing software licensing across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid IT environments. You will collaborate with major enterprise vendors, internal stakeholders and external partners to maximize business value, ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Software Asset Management (SAM), providing guidance on complex software licensing topics and producing Effective License Positions (ELPs).
  • Manage and optimise software licensing for major vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, Broadcom, IBM, SAP and Red Hat, ensuring compliance and maximising business value.
  • Interpret and apply software licensing concepts across modern technology landscapes, including containers, cloud platforms and traditional infrastructure.
  • Leverage data from enterprise systems (Azure Active Directory, CMDB, My Access, Intune) to support software asset management, billing, cost allocation and reporting.
  • Ensure transparency of software‑related costs by managing chargeback processes and enabling fair cost allocation to Business Units and Service Owners.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and vendors, leading negotiations and driving mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Identify, develop and implement initiatives that generate software cost savings, mitigate compliance risks and enhance SAM processes, controls and best practices.
  • Lead and support complex software contract negotiations (demand management, renewals and amendments) in collaboration with sourcing, procurement, legal and vendor management.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of global SAM standards, governance frameworks, controls, reporting capabilities and performance metrics.
  • Drive innovation within SAM by leveraging AI and automation to reduce manual effort and uncover optimisation opportunities.
  • Contribute to day‑to‑day operations and strategic initiatives of the global SAM team, ensuring delivery of high‑quality services and continuous operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
  • 3+ years of proven experience managing a software portfolio for at least one major publisher in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience creating fully optimized ELPs from data collection to completion.
  • Strong understanding of license restrictions, benefits and optimisation opportunities.
  • Proficient use of SAM tools (ideally FlexeraOne) and supporting data sources.
  • Advanced Excel skills (V/HL‑lookups, pivot tables, complex calculations).
  • Track record of adopting and embedding AI solutions in SAM operations.
  • Experience with P&L calculations and cost accruals for cost impact.
  • Fluent spoken and written English (strong B2+).
