Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or ND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with site-based work.
• Experience in commercial construction projects and SACQSP registration is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of SA construction contracts and procurement methods.
• Proficiency with measurement software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage site-based quantity surveying for multiple projects.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent construction company known for its quality commercial developments, is seeking a diligent Site Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This role is pivotal in managing project costs from inception through to completion, ensuring financial control and maximizing profitability. You will be responsible for site-based cost management, including tendering, valuations, contract administration, and final account reconciliation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction economics and excellent analytical skills. Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of site-based quantity surveying for assigned construction projects.
• Prepare and submit detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports.
• Measure and value work done, preparing interim payment applications and managing variations.
• Administer construction contracts, including managing claims, disputes, and extensions of time.
• Procure and manage subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
• Negotiate and settle final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and advise on value engineering.
• Maintain accurate cost records and track project expenditures against budgets.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, assess quantities, and verify claims.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and company financial procedures.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a significant portion focused on site-based roles.
• Proven experience in commercial construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of South African construction contracts and procurement methods.
• Proficiency in measurement software (e.g., WinQS, CCS) and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and financial control.
• Professional registration with SACQSP is an advantage.
