Formación

Responsabilidades

  • Operate the Shiplift from the control tower during hauling and launching maneuvers.
  • Monitor critical system parameters to ensure stability and safety.
  • Verify correct operational status of the Shiplift.
  • Maintain continuous radio communication with the Dock Master.
  • Record any system anomaly and report it to the supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental procedures.

Conocimientos

Previous experience operating lifting systems

JOB DESCRIPTION – SHIPLIFT OPERATOR

About the Company

VMG Refit & Repair is a shipyard specialized in the refit and repair of superyachts and megayachts, located in the commercial port of Sagunto. We operate modern facilities equipped with a high-capacity Shiplift, delivering technical services based on the highest standards of engineering, safety and quality.

About the Role

To safely, precisely and efficiently operate the Shiplift system from the control tower during hauling and launching maneuvers. Under the supervision and coordination of the Dock Master, the Shiplift Operator ensures the correct execution of maneuvers, adherence to established procedures and full compliance with the shipyard’s safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate the Shiplift from the control tower during all hauling and launching maneuvers, strictly following established procedures and instructions.
  • Monitor critical system parameters (loads, levels, alarms, synchronization) to ensure stability and safety throughout the operation.
  • Verify correct operational status of the Shiplift by performing pre- and post-operation checks.
  • Maintain continuous radio communication with the Dock Master and ground crew to coordinate safe and efficient maneuvers.
  • Record any system anomaly or deviation and report it immediately to the responsible supervisor.
  • Maintain updated operational documentation, procedures, manuals and technical records related to the use of the Shiplift.
  • Contribute to basic preventive maintenance and periodic inspections of the Shiplift and associated handling equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with the shipyard’s safety, quality and environmental procedures.
  • Support the Dock Master in verifying safety conditions in each maneuver.
Qualifications

Chief Engineer Officer (Merchant Marine), or

Electrical / Electronic Engineer

Preferred: Technical training related to heavy machinery, hydraulic, electrical or automated systems.

Required Skills
  • Previous experience operating lifting systems, Shiplift, Travelift or fixed heavy machinery (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems applied to lifting equipment.
  • Familiarity with hauling and launching procedures in shipyards.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations applicable to port operations and lifting machinery.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, operational alarms and manufacturer manuals.
