Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager based in Spain.

Join a mission-driven organization advancing the Ethereum ecosystem by building open-source infrastructure that empowers developers worldwide. As Senior Technical Product Manager, you will own the product strategy and roadmaps for two essential developer tools, Hardhat and Ethereum Development Runtime (EDR). You will translate complex technical challenges and developer needs into clear product requirements, prioritizing features that improve the experience of building, testing, and deploying smart contracts. Working closely with engineering leaders, software engineers, and ecosystem partners, you will shape API behavior, command-line interfaces, and core developer workflows. This senior individual contributor role combines technical expertise, product judgment, and strategic thinking in a remote-first environment built around autonomy and collaboration. Your work will directly influence the quality, reliability, and evolution of tools that support the broader Ethereum developer community.

Accountabilities
  • Product strategy and roadmap ownership: Define, execute, and continuously refine the product roadmaps for Hardhat and EDR, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic objectives, developer needs, and ecosystem priorities.
  • Product prioritization and decision-making: Own decisions about what to build next, balancing developer impact, engineering effort, technical constraints, ecosystem requirements, and long-term product sustainability.
  • Requirements and documentation: Write and maintain product requirements documents (PRDs), feature specifications, and product design documentation that translate complex needs into clear, actionable guidance for engineering teams.
  • Technical product execution: Take ownership of core product management activities, driving feature definition, scope, prioritization, and execution in collaboration with engineering leadership and development teams.
  • Developer experience and product design: Define user experience expectations and developer-facing functionality, ensuring that APIs, command-line interfaces (CLIs), configuration options, and other product surfaces remain intuitive and consistent.
  • Engineering collaboration: Work closely with the CTO, Head of Engineering, engineering managers, and software engineers to align dependencies, establish delivery sequences, assess trade-offs, and support effective technical decision-making.
  • Technical feasibility assessment: Evaluate architectural constraints, implementation complexity, and engineering trade-offs to ensure product requirements are realistic, appropriately scoped, and aligned with broader technical objectives.
  • Developer needs and ecosystem research: Identify high-impact problems through developer feedback, ecosystem engagement, and an understanding of Ethereum development workflows, translating insights into actionable product opportunities.
  • Bug and feedback prioritization: Identify opportunities to improve existing products, prioritize bugs and user feedback, and help remove blockers that affect development progress or the developer experience.
  • Cross-functional communication: Serve as the primary product point of contact for engineering teams, providing clear and consistent guidance on product decisions, requirements, and user experience expectations.
  • Product quality and consistency: Ensure that features are delivered with a coherent user experience across both products, supporting reliable workflows for writing, testing, compiling, and deploying smart contracts.
  • Stakeholder alignment: Build strong relationships with internal leaders, engineers, and external ecosystem partners to maintain transparency, communicate product direction, and ensure decisions reflect both immediate needs and long-term goals.
Requirements
  • Product management experience: At least five years of professional experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner working on technical, developer-facing products or platforms.
  • Software engineering background: At least two years of previous professional experience as a Software Engineer, including hands-on development in a strongly typed programming language such as TypeScript, Rust, C++, C#, Java, or Go.
  • Developer tools expertise: Experience building or managing developer-focused products, such as APIs, software development kits (SDKs), command-line interfaces (CLIs), IDE integrations, or infrastructure platforms.
  • Technical product judgment: Ability to evaluate technical feasibility, architectural limitations, implementation complexity, and engineering trade-offs, partnering effectively with engineers to make pragmatic product decisions.
  • Product strategy and roadmap management: Demonstrated ability to define product direction, prioritize competing initiatives, manage dependencies, and align delivery plans with broader strategic goals.
  • Requirements definition: Experience translating developer needs and business objectives into clear PRDs, feature specifications, product documentation, and actionable engineering requirements.
  • End-to-end product execution: Strong understanding of product discovery, design, iteration, prioritization, development, and release processes, with accountability for outcomes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • User-focused mindset: Proven ability to understand developer workflows, identify friction points, and make thoughtful product decisions that balance usability, technical quality, and ecosystem needs.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Experience working closely with engineering teams and technical leadership, facilitating discussions, resolving ambiguities, and building alignment around complex product decisions.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and establish trust with engineers and ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Autonomy and ownership: Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to independently identify high-impact opportunities, make decisions, and drive progress in a distributed environment.
  • Ethereum ecosystem knowledge: Practical familiarity with Ethereum protocols, developer tools, smart contract development, or related infrastructure is expected.
  • Adaptability and strategic thinking: Ability to navigate complex technical environments, balance immediate priorities against long-term product goals, and maintain a clear product vision as ecosystem needs evolve.
Benefits
  • ETH grant: A vesting grant denominated in Ether (ETH) as part of the total compensation package.
  • Unlimited paid time off: Flexibility to take time off while maintaining alignment with team responsibilities and project commitments.
  • IT equipment budget: Financial support to obtain the equipment needed for an effective remote working setup.
  • Annual learning and development budget: Dedicated funding to support professional growth, technical learning, and continued development.
  • Location-specific statutory benefits: Benefits required by local law, depending on the employment contract and country of employment.
  • Fully remote work: The flexibility to work remotely from Europe, subject to the role's eligible time zones.
  • Meaningful professional impact: The opportunity to shape open-source infrastructure used by developers across the Ethereum ecosystem.
  • Technical and strategic ownership: Significant influence over product direction, roadmaps, developer experience, and prioritization decisions.
  • Collaborative engineering culture: Work alongside experienced engineers and technical leaders in an environment that values robust engineering and pragmatic decision-making.
  • Lean operating model: Lightweight processes designed to encourage autonomy, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, and support focused product development.
  • Continuous learning: Opportunities to deepen your expertise in developer tooling, blockchain infrastructure, and open-source product development.
