Airbus Defence and Space SAU in Getafe (Madrid) is seeking a Structural Stress & Fatigue Specialist (Metal & Composites) to join the Structural Stress Analysis Team. The role covers sizing, verification, and ensuring the structural integrity and damage tolerance of aerospace components.

The candidate will perform structural analysis during design phases, conduct trade-off analyses, define configurations, and support certification processes, with emphasis on metallic and composite materials and

Job Description

An opportunity for a Structural Stress & Fatigue Specialist (Metal & Composites) has arisen within Airbus Defense and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Structural Stress Analysis Team within Airbus Defense and Space. The department is in charge of sizing, verifying, and ensuring the structural integrity and damage tolerance of aerospace components.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

• Structural Analysis during Design conceptual design, definition, development and modifications phases.
• Trade off analysis for different design solutions
• Structural arrangements definition and evaluation
• Sizing of the structural components, parts and assemblies
• Support of the Mechanical System installation Design office
• Analysis of the certification requirements according to the rules and standards
• Definition of structural genera/detailed arrangements
• Selection of manufacturing technologies, materials and standards during the sizing
• Support of the design office-Definition and establishment of the certification/qualification means of compliance
• Structural test definition, test support and assessment of results
• Participation in the development of the technological areas of engineering and manufacturing.
• Program management where different disciplines are involved.

Influence Areas

• Engineering and Technologies: Structural and System installations design, M&P, Weight and Balance, Flight Physics, Standardization, R&D dpt.

Skills Required

• University Aeronautical Engineering Degree or equivalent
• At least 5-10 years experience in Structural Analysis of airframe components
• Experience in stress tools (FEM and SW packages)
• Good knowledge of standard stress methods (e.g. HSB, Bruhn, ESDU, Roark & Young)
• Knowledge of design principles and manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of AW requirements, preferred on military standards
• Knowledge in qualification and certification of aircraft structures as well as global understanding of Aircraft Development processes to support transversal activities in early project phases
• Metallic and composite materials knowledge
• Structural test techniques
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluent English language.
• Experience in program management
