Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space SAU in Getafe (Madrid) seeks a PWP Mechanical Analysis Engineer to strengthen the stress analysis team. You will model structural loads, evaluate stresses, and support pre-design through certification, collaborating with Flight Physics, Design, and System Integration across programs.

We expect 5+ years in aeronautical mechanical stress analysis, strong English, and programming in Python, with advanced NASTRAN and CATIA skills.

Qualifications

• Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree required.
• At least 5 years in mechanical stress analysis for aeronautical projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance calculations for metallic, composite, and hybrid structures at component level.
• Develop structural stress evaluations and determine strength margins per Airbus methods.
• Use FDT tools to assess damaged structures for repair or acceptance.
• Collaborate with Flight Physics, Design and System Integration to ensure alignment from pre-design to in-service support.
• Support PWP structure definition, participate in design reviews and certification processes.

Job Overview

Job Description: An opportunity for a PWP Mechanical Analysis Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the PWP Mechanical Analysis Team. Our department is in charge of participating in the design of the ADS platform PWP through modeling, loads evaluation (static, fatigue, dynamic, thermal), and structure/system definition and validation. We develop static, thermal, and dynamic models of the PWP structure design to integrate engines across our different platforms. The team evaluates structural stresses derived from loads, supporting the design from the pre-design phase to in-service support, including main design reviews, certification, and prototype testing. To perform these activities, our multidisciplinary team is permanently in contact with Flight Physics, Design, and System Integration departments, as well as each program's Chief Engineering office. The jobholder will reinforce our stress analysis area to support complex system implementation in these programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance (F&DT) calculation and analysis within metallic, composite, and hybrid structures at the component level.
• Develop structural stress evaluations and produce relevant strength margins or reserve factors according to validated and applicable Airbus methods and sizing processes.
• Utilize standard F&DT tools and techniques to analyze damaged structures and provide stress analyses for the repair or acceptance of components.
• Collaborate with Flight Physics, Design, and System Integration departments to ensure structural alignment from pre-design phases to in-service support.
• Support the definition, implementation, and validation of the PWP structure design, participating actively in main design reviews and certification processes.

Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree or a related discipline.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in Aeronautical Engineering Mechanical stress analysis.
• Soft skills: High adaptability to work in a team and networking mode. Capacity to endorse responsibility and leadership.
• Languages: Advanced level in English.
• Technical knowledge: Programming in Python, advanced level of NASTRAN and CATIA.
