Job summary

Perle Systems is seeking expert Spanish transcribers to convert audio from native speakers into precise, time-aligned transcripts according to our project-specific style guide. You will handle speaker IDs, overlaps, and non-speech events with high linguistic judgment.

We require native fluency in Spanish with regional experience and strong knowledge of RAE orthography. Excellent listening, attention to detail, and comfort with code-switching and annotation platforms are essential.

Qualifications

• Native fluency in Spanish with regional immersion.
• Mastery of Spanish orthography per current RAE / ASALE guidelines.
• Strong ear for regional Spanish accents and ability to distinguish them in transcription.
• Comfortable transcribing Spanish code-switching with English or regional indigenous languages where it occurs.
• At least two years of professional transcription, captioning, court reporting, broadcast, translation, or linguistic annotation experience.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe audio recordings into accurate, time-aligned written text following Perle's project-specific style guide.
• Apply correct conventions for speaker identification, overlapping speech, disfluencies, fillers, false starts, and non-speech events such as laughter, background noise, and music.
• Make principled orthographic decisions for dialectal, colloquial, and code-switched speech.
• Flag ambiguous segments, uncertain speakers, and audio quality issues using project conventions.
• Self-review every submission against Perle's quality bar before delivery.
• Engage with QA reviewers on edge cases, calibration sessions, and style guide updates.
