Job summary

Checkatrade is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Trust & Safety in Barcelona. You will own systems for verifying tradespeople, processing reviews, and content moderation, shaping a scalable, trustworthy marketplace.

You’ll respond to production incidents, design robust event-driven workflows, and collaborate with vetting and reviews teams to translate trust needs into reliable software. You will work with TypeScript, Fastify/Node.js, and Next.js, with strong emphasis on observability,

Qualifications

Experience building production-grade TypeScript services end-to-end.
Strong knowledge of event-driven architectures and idempotent design.
Proficiency with Next.js for full-stack development.
Familiarity with Datadog APM/logs and SQL diagnostics.
Experience leading production incidents and driving fast fixes.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the systems behind trades verification, reviews flow, and content moderation.
Lead incident response: read traces, correlate logs, diagnose root causes.
Design reliable event-driven workflows with idempotency and dead-letter handling.
Collaborate with vetting and reviews teams to translate trust requirements into robust systems.
Improve operational visibility with better monitoring, alerting, and secure data handling.
