Job summary

Kraken, via Payward Services, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale Rust-based services powering trading, payments, and digital asset experiences. You will own end-to-end functionality, from real‑time coordination to infrastructure that moves money and assets safely at scale.

You will work with hundreds of Rust engineers, emphasizing reliability, performance, and safety while collaborating with product teams to translate requirements into robust, low-latency solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust.
• Have a security‑first mindset during system design to ensure robustness.
• Autonomously debug issues across the stack (OS, network, application).
• Understand distributed systems and technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and event‑driven architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust Rust services and libraries powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences with focus on reliability and performance.
• Write reusable, testable code that scales across teams and supports revenue‑critical systems safely.
• Collaborate on large-scale distributed systems architecture translating product requirements into resilient, low-latency solutions.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to defining the technical culture.
