Job summary

S&P Global Ratings in Madrid seeks an Associate Director to lead sovereign and international public finance credit analysis across Spain and Europe. You will conduct site visits, manage surveillance, and present rating recommendations to committees with clear, evidence-based reasoning.

You will mentor junior analysts, navigate a regulated environment, and apply generative AI tools responsibly to accelerate research while maintaining governance and validation.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in public finance analysis or related field.
• Proven credit portfolio management with junior analyst coaching.
• Strong organizational skills in a regulated environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for committees and issuers.
• Experience embedding generative AI into workflows with governance.
• Continuous improvement mindset with standardization/automation.
• Fluent Spanish (written and spoken).
• Fluent English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end credit analysis for sovereign and public finance credits.
• Coach and develop junior analysts; manage portfolio workflows and quality risks.
• Use approved AI tools to accelerate research and drafting with validation.
• Translate complex research into market-facing narratives for issuers and investors.
• Ensure data governance and confidentiality in a regulated environment.
