Job summary

Fichtner is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for AC and HVDC Subsea Cable Technology in Barcelona. The role involves supporting subsea cable projects with extensive engineering expertise, managing interfaces, and optimizing designs for offshore wind projects.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master's or Bachelor’s degree in electrical or industrial engineering, possess at least eight years of relevant experience, and be fluent in English. The position offers permanent contracts and significant corporate benefits.

Senior Project Engineer for AC and HVDC Subsea Cable Technology (m/f/x).

Your Tasks

• Support subsea cable projects (AC and HVDC) with cable engineering, design, technology and manufacturing know‑how
• Develop HV cable specifications for inner array or export cable systems
• Review cable design and manufacturing documents
• Prepare and attend supplier and factory audits as well as cable type tests, and support the cable manufacturing supervision
• Backoffice engineering for NCR and punch items from the cable manufacturing process
• Manage the interface to the cable installation
• Identify and report technical risks
• Contribute to the overall optimization of inner array grid layouts and export cable connections for offshore wind farms
• Report to package and/or project managers and liaise with colleagues from other work

Your Profile

• Master, Bachelor or equivalent in electrical or industrial engineering
• At least eight years of relevant subsea cable engineering experience
• Familiar with developing or working with EPC tender, design and manufacturing documents
• Experience in the field of high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) and/or AC power transmission
• Experience in offshore wind and/or interconnector projects
• Fluency in English, both written and oral
• Willingness to undertake regular trips to the project countries (up to 20 %)
• Valid work permit for Spain
