Job summary

Verisk is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to build scalable, reliable infrastructure and tooling that accelerates engineering teams across the organization. You will shape platform strategy, advance cloud and Kubernetes platforms, and drive automation and AI-enabled capabilities at scale.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, collaboration across teams, and ownership of platform standards, with a focus on reliability, developer experience, and cost governance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or similar roles.
• Hands-on with Terraform or OpenTofu, Ansible, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting production environments.
• Solid CI/CD and engineering automation knowledge.
• Experience improving developer productivity through platform tooling.
• Knowledge of infrastructure standards, security controls, governance, and operational excellence.
• Strong troubleshooting across infrastructure, applications, and configurations.
• Ability to understand and navigate application code when investigating platform issues.
• Automation-first mindset and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code patterns using Terraform and OpenTofu.
• Develop automation solutions with Ansible to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Design, implement, and support AWS cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms in production.
• Standardize CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, quality controls, and delivery practices.
• Enhance developer experience through automation, self-service, documentation, and tooling.
• Define and promote engineering standards across infra, security, governance, Kubernetes, and delivery practices.
• Support AI technologies governance, integrations, observability, and cost management.
• Improve monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational visibility across critical platforms.
• Provide advanced technical support for platform and production issues.
• Investigate and resolve complex infra, deployment, and app challenges.
• Mentor engineers and contribute technical leadership across teams.
