Job summary

The Mill Adventure Limited is seeking a Senior Back End Developer to advance our gaming platform. You will work on customer-facing features, compliance systems, and core platform components, taking ownership from design through release while collaborating with internal teams and partners.

We value proactive problem-solving, independent work, and the ability to craft robust, event-driven architectures. Remote, hybrid, or office-based arrangements are supported to suit the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Proficient with JavaScript/TypeScript in a Node.js environment.
• Experience with AWS services (DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, Quicksight).
• Experience designing and maintaining automated unit/integration tests.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving approach; initiative to investigate unclear requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the gaming platform, including user features, compliance and reporting systems, and core components.
• Review and debug code focusing on quality, data integrity, and edge cases across the platform.
• Participate in software design and architecture discussions.
• Own changes through the SDLC; clarify requirements, assess impact, verify behavior after release.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and partners.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools while ensuring code quality and accountability.

The Role Includes The Following Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain our gaming platform, including customer-facing features, compliance and reporting systems, and core platform components
• Review and debug code with attention to quality, data integrity, edge cases and unintended effects across the platform
• Participate in software design and architecture discussions
• Take ownership of changes throughout the software development life cycle, clarifying requirements, assessing impact and verifying behaviour after release
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and partners
• Use AI-assisted development tools, scripting and automation to improve development and engineering workflows, critically evaluating outputs and remaining accountable for the quality of changes
• Design and perform tests that verify business rules, data accuracy and failure scenarios, working with QA to ensure changes are adequately covered

Requirements

You'll be a great fit if you have:

• Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js ecosystem
• Previous experience working with AWS (or similar) solutions (DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, Quicksight, S3, etc.)
• Experience designing and maintaining automated unit and integration tests
• An analytical and methodical approach to problem-solving, with a strong focus on the initiative to investigate unclear requirements and underlying causes
• The ability to work independently
• Self-management and communication skills
• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer, working with Back-End
• Experience with event-driven architectures
• Experience developing highly available, fault-tolerant systems and maintaining data consistency in event-driven architectures
• Practical experience using AI tools in software development, with the ability to critically review generated code and validate its behaviour; an interest in extending AI and automation into engineering workflows
• Experience with compliance, regulatory reporting or other systems where data accuracy, traceability and auditability are essential would be an advantage
