Job summary

iPronics in Valencia, Spain is seeking a Senior Optical Module Development Engineer to lead the design and development of optical amplification modules for AI/datacenter applications. You will work with packaging and photonic integration teams to ensure performance, reliability and manufacturability of modules for large-scale deployment.

You will operate at the intersection of subsystem design, photonic packaging and advanced manufacturing, enabling high-yield, scalable products.

Qualifications

• PhD in photonics, electrical engineering, physics or materials science with 3+ years industrial experience in optical systems/modules
• Strong understanding of optics and photonics fundamentals
• Experience with optical system design, integrated photonics, micro-optics, fiber coupling and optical subsystem integration
• Experience with Zemax, Ansys/Lumerical, Rsoft RCWA or similar tools
• Familiarity with assembly and packaging techniques including wire bonding and PCB integration
• Hands-on experience with optical characterization and data analysis
• DfM mindset and problem-solving skills, team player with good communication skills

Responsibilities

• Define and optimize optical modules/sub-systems
• Perform simulations and tolerance analysis to guide design and integration decisions
• Investigate optical performance issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Test and validate optical devices, assemblies and modules, analyze test data and report results
• Apply Design for manufacturability (DfM) principles to scalable products considering yield, cost, and material/processing constraints
• Cross-functional collaboration with packaging and photonic engineers for seamless product integration
• Documentation and reporting to support development and knowledge transfer
