Codeway, based in Barcelona, seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to lead privacy, AI, regulatory, corporate and commercial work across a fast‑moving portfolio of consumer apps. You will report to the Head of Legal and collaborate with product, growth, engineering, finance and the founders.

This builder role entails end‑to‑end ownership and shaping how Legal operates as the company scales across multiple jurisdictions.

Formación

• 6+ years post-qualification experience in tech, internet, or digital companies.
• Strong privacy experience (GDPR and at least one other regime) and AI regulation knowledge.
• Solid corporate governance, entity management and transactional support.
• Broad commercial contracting experience negotiating with counterparties.
• Experience with subscriptions, consumer protection, marketing and platform rules.
• Exposure to multiple jurisdictions and coordinating external counsel.
• Experience reporting to a Head of Legal/Compliance in a lean team.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken.
• Comfortable with AI and automation in legal work.

POSITION

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to be a hands‑on, senior voice across privacy, AI, regulatory, corporate and commercial work for a fast‑moving portfolio of consumer apps. You will report to the Head of Legal and work directly with product, growth, engineering, finance and the founders.

This is a builder role: you will own matters end to end, and help shape how Legal works as the company scales across multiple jurisdictions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Privacy, AI and regulatory

• Advise product teams on privacy by design across the app lifecycle: data mapping, DPIAs, privacy notices, consent and SDK/third‑party data flows.

• Lead AI governance and readiness: AI feature reviews, transparency obligations, model and vendor terms, and internal AI‑use policies.

• Track and implement regulation affecting consumer apps (GDPR, US state privacy laws, EU AI Act, DSA, children’s privacy), and translate it into practical playbooks.

• Handle data subject requests, regulator and platform inquiries, and incident response with engineering and security.

Corporate

• Support entity management and governance across group companies: board and shareholder resolutions, registers, powers of attorney and filings.

• Support corporate transactions, restructurings and new entity set‑ups.

Commercial contracting

• Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements: SaaS and AI vendors, data processing, advertising and attribution partners, influencers and content, publishing and acquisitions, licensing.

• Build templates, playbooks and self‑serve processes so the business can move quickly with the right guardrails.

Consumer tech

• Advise on subscriptions, auto‑renewal, free trials, pricing and cancellation flows, consumer protection and marketing claims

• Review app store, web checkout and advertising compliance, and support product launches in new markets.

Across the board

• Report to the Head of Legal, flag risks early and propose solutions, not just issues.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Qualified lawyer with 6+ years' post-qualification experience, combining a top law firm and in‑house roles at a tech, internet or digital company.

• Strong, hands‑on privacy experience (GDPR and at least one other major regime, ideally US state laws) and working knowledge of AI regulation.

• Solid corporate experience: governance, entity management and supporting transactions.

• Broad commercial contracting experience, negotiating directly with counterparties.

• Consumer tech experience: subscriptions, consumer protection, digital marketing and platform rules.

• Exposure to multiple jurisdictions and comfort coordinating external counsel across them.

• Experience reporting to a Head of Legal / Legal & Compliance lead in a lean team.

• Pragmatic, commercial judgement; able to give clear, risk‑weighted answers quickly.

• Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken.

• Comfortable with new tools: you already use AI and automation in your own legal work.

NICE TO HAVE

• Mobile apps experience: App Store and Google Play policies, in‑app subscriptions, ad‑tech and attribution SDKs.

• Hands‑on AI Act readiness or AI governance programme work.

• Privacy certification (CIPP/E, CIPP/US or similar).
