Elastic is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join the Elasticsearch team and drive the Inference API. You will build and maintain the plugin framework and REST API, collaborating with the inference team and the Kibana team to deliver scalable, reliable software across Elastic's cloud and hosted environments.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of production Java experience, API design skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality code.

Formación

• 5+ years of production Java experience.
• Experience crafting ergonomic APIs and the ability to reason through tradeoffs.
• Experience with low-level Java such as concurrency, parallelism, and classloaders.

Responsabilidades

• Build and maintain integrations with internal systems and external inference providers, including schema negotiation, streaming (SSE), and error normalisation.
• Contribute to the inference plugin architecture: task settings, chunking strategies, rate limiting, and provider-level configuration.
• Review open source contributions to the codebase and ensure contributions meet standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation for inference-related incidents.
• Write thorough tests: unit tests with ESTestCase, YAML REST integration tests, and rolling-upgrade tests.
